The Sussex School of Archaeology (SSA) provides a comprehensive range of archaeology courses to the general public and more specialised training courses for amateur and professional archaeologists. The School is run by Chris Butler and is managed by Annalie Seaman with David Rudling as Academic Director.
         
   
         
CBAS Limited have been involved over the last few years in a number of large landscape and woodland surveys.
 
Chris Butler is one of the country’s leading experts on prehistoric flintwork. He specialises in identifying and analysing flintwork from the Mesolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Age periods, and has written the ultimate guide to prehistoric flintwork of the British Isles ‘Prehistoric Flintwork’,
 
We can undertake all levels of archaeological standing building survey, and can also prepare statements of significance on buildings for planning purposes
 
   
         
Chris Butler has a long standing interest in Military History, and has been able to combine this with his archaeological expertise and personal military experience to undertake detailed studies of military sites and landscapes. CBAS has recently undertaken fieldwork surveys for the D-Day Museum to identify the Head Quarters camps used by Eisenhower and Montgomery leading up to D-Day

 
CBAS Limited are one of the leading facilitators of community archaeology projects in the Southeast. Our extensive experience in setting up and running volunteer and community archaeology projects over the last 20 years means that we can bring a wealth of experience and ideas to any new venture. CBAS Limited can undertake both Magnetometer and Resistivity surveys, either as standalone surveys or as part of larger projects. Any size of survey can be undertaken. We can also process existing survey data, whether it is in digital or hard-copy format, and can integrate geophysical survey results with other landscape surveys and desk-based data.

CBAS is looking to recruit both senior and junior level field staff for an exciting new project in East Sussex, which will probably be of around 3 months duration starting early in the new year
